History - The Church You Don't Expect in Paganica
Year 1300. A shepherd sees the Madonna in a cave. They build a Romanesque church directly inside the Gran Sasso rock. Outside it looks like a small stone hut. Inside: perfect medieval frescoes from 13th-15th century, colors still vivid, Madonna with Child, saints, stories. Perfectly restored after 2009 earthquake. Nobody knows it, only locals.
